A devastating fire swept through a residential building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar, resulting in nine fatalities and prompting a large-scale rescue operation. The blaze erupted in the early morning hours at a structure located in Vivek Vihar Phase-I, with flames rapidly consuming multiple levels of the building.
The fire spread across the second, third, and fourth floors, trapping residents and creating hazardous conditions for emergency responders. Rescue teams worked swiftly to evacuate occupants from the affected structure, successfully bringing 20 people to safety during the operation.
Nine charred bodies were recovered from various floors of the building during the rescue efforts. The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns regarding residential buildings in densely populated urban areas and has renewed calls for stricter fire safety protocols and building inspections.
