U.S. Air Force Prepares Donated Qatari Boeing 747 for Presidential Use

The U.S. Air Force has completed modifications and testing on a Boeing 747 donated by Qatar, positioning the aircraft for use as a temporary presidential transport. The jet is undergoing repainting in the traditional red, white and blue livery associated with Air Force One. This aircraft will serve as an interim solution while Boeing manufactures new presidential aircraft.

The former Qatari luxury jet will function as a “bridge” aircraft until Boeing delivers two newly constructed presidential planes. The new aircraft are currently scheduled for delivery in 2028. This timeline allows the Air Force to maintain continuous presidential air transportation capabilities during the manufacturing period.

The donation represents a significant contribution to U.S. military operations. The modified 747 will undergo final preparations before assuming its role as presidential transport, ensuring it meets all necessary security and operational standards for this specialized mission.
