UAE Air Defenses Intercept Iranian Missile and Drone Strikes

The United Arab Emirates activated its air defense systems to counter missile and drone attacks originating from Iran. Interception sounds were reported across multiple locations throughout the country as defensive measures engaged incoming threats.

The Iranian military action has created significant disruptions to global maritime commerce. Approximately 1,500 vessels and their crews remain trapped in the Persian Gulf region due to Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical international shipping route.

According to the International Maritime Organization’s secretary-general, around 20,000 seafarers are currently stranded aboard the affected vessels. The blockade has raised concerns about the safety of crew members and the broader implications for international trade and energy supplies that depend on passage through the strait.
