India’s NDMA Tests National Cell Broadcast Alert System

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted a nationwide test of the Cell Broadcast Alert System across India. Citizens received emergency alert notifications on their mobile phones during the exercise. The alerts were accompanied by loud sounds or vibrations to ensure maximum visibility and awareness among the population.

The Cell Broadcast Alert System is designed to rapidly disseminate critical emergency information to the public during disasters and emergencies. The nationwide test allowed authorities to evaluate the system’s effectiveness and reach across different regions and mobile networks. This infrastructure aims to improve disaster response and public safety by enabling quick communication with citizens during crises.

The NDMA regularly conducts such drills to maintain system readiness and ensure that emergency communication protocols function smoothly across the country.
