Kuwait Denounces Attacks on Submarine Internet Cable Infrastructure

Kuwait has formally condemned attacks on submarine internet cables, attributing responsibility to Iran and its regional allies. The statement was delivered by Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the UN and international organizations in Geneva, during a session of the International Telecommunication Union Council.

The attacks represent a threat to critical communications infrastructure that supports regional connectivity and economic activity. Kuwait characterized the incidents as deliberate actions targeting the telecommunications sector, raising concerns about the stability of vital undersea cable networks.

The formal complaint marks Kuwait’s effort to bring international attention to the vulnerability of submarine cable systems in the region. The ITU Council serves as a platform for member states to address telecommunications security and infrastructure protection issues on a global stage.
