A coalition of 52 Dalit organisations has called for a state-wide hartal to protest alleged caste discrimination and institutional failures at Anjarakandy Dental College. The action council cited multiple incidents of discriminatory behaviour by college teachers against Dalit students as a primary concern.
The organisations also highlighted the forced dropout of students who failed to receive e-grants, creating financial barriers to their continued education. These issues prompted the collective to seek immediate intervention and accountability from educational authorities.
The proposed hartal is scheduled to run from 6 am to 6 pm, aiming to draw statewide attention to the systemic challenges facing marginalised student communities in higher education institutions. The action council has urged the state government to conduct a thorough investigation and implement corrective measures.
